I will be the first to tell you, I am NOT a baby person. I have never been the best or the most enthusiastic newborn photographer, but when a close friend asks to you photograph one of the happiest and most intimate moments of their life: You pack up your gear at midnight and head to the hospital!
The whole experience was so surreal, I experienced birth from the side of the "Mom" but never as a third-party observer.
The amount of love in the room was overwhelming.
Every woman wants a photo of her husband-to-be as they walk down the aisle, but THIS is the moment I think should be captured for every family, the moment a father sees his child for the first time. I am not afraid to admit, I was in tears seeing Julia for the first time and witnessing the outpouring of happiness from both Nate and Heather.
After a Skype call to the new grandparents, and some first family photos, I walked to my car renewed. In the early hours of the morning, I had witnessed nature's most beautiful miracle, and it was exactly what I needed. I started this summer watching a life end, the most important life in my life, taken from me by a horrible disease. I ended the summer capturing a life beginning, and with it, a new journey for a beautiful family, and a sweet friend.
"Every story has an end, but in life, every ending is just a new beginning."
